So what's the biggest hindrance to intervention in Sudan? Well, I'm not really a cynical sort of guy (OK, I am), but it seems that this graphic might begin to explain why some nations are slow to intervene in Darfur and Southern Sudan and why they might be reluctant to speak too harshly against the Sudanese regime in the north. When China, Malaysia, Qatar, Canada, Sweden, Austria, and Total (the European oil conglomerate that is the fourth largest oil company in the world) all have significant claims to vast quantities of untapped oil reserves in Sudan, maybe, just maybe, that affects their willingness to move against the government of Sudan despite evidence of ongoing genocide in Darfur and continued violence and support of the LRA in the South. Maybe.

I idolize your cynicism. It's BEAUtiful! And you may just be right. ;)
