Angola is a place that most of the people reading this have never visited and never will. Most readers probably couldn't pick out Angola on a map, and most of you have never met an Angolan. Still, I urge you to pray for Angola and the people of the Uige province affected by the deadly Marburg virus - closely related to Ebola - which causes bleeding from the mouth, gums, nose, and other openings in the body.
The WHO is working hard in Angola to stop the virus and may be having some success depending on who one listens to.
Pray for the WHO doctors and health workers, the local health community including traditional healers, educators, government officials, and the families of the infected. Haemorrhagic fever is a devastatingly painful way to die, and despite the fact that Angola is far away and far removed from the lives of most of the readers here, our desperate prayers should be lifted that no more people should suffer so tragically in Angola.
